Mundine the man in Vegas
Anthony Mundine enjoyed a win in his American boxing debut, taking a seventh-round technical knockout victory over 41-year-old Bronco McKart in Las Vegas on Sunday afternoon (Australian time).
Mundine's physical advantages were noticeable in the middleweight bout, and the Australian's superior hand speed gave McKart plenty of trouble.
McKart, who last held a world title in 1996, was no match for Mundine, who had the American in trouble after flooring him with a powerful right in round seven.
McKart got up, but a sustained barrage of punches from Mundine had him down again soon after, prompting his corner to throw in the towel.
The victory saw Mundine win the vacant IBF North American middleweight title, and improved his career record to 44 wins and four losses from 48 bouts.
It was McKart's 10th loss from 65 professional fights, with his last meaningful bout coming in a 2008 decision loss to former IBF light-middleweight world champion Roman Karmazin.
