Carlton lose Hampson for the year
Carlton have been dealt another injury blow with ruckman Shaun Hampson ruled out for the rest of the season.
Hampson will undergo arthroscopic surgery on Monday after injuring his right knee in the early stages of Friday night's win over Collingwood at the MCG.
It is thought Hampson damaged his posterior cruciate ligament in a collision with Magpies midfielder Dane Swan.
Carlton football operations manager Andrew McKay said the surgery will give Hampson enough time to recover ahead of pre-season training.
"It is obviously disappointing for Shaun, as well as for the team," McKay said.
"Importantly the surgery will repair the knee and ensure he is available to resume full training prior to Christmas."
Hampson joins injured team-mates Jarrad Waite (back), Marc Murphy (shoulder) and Kade Simpson (jaw) on the sidelines, though Waite and Murphy are hopeful of returning on Friday night to face North Melbourne.
