Complacency cost Raiders

Complacency cost Raiders
Canberra Raiders coach David Furner thinks his side may have become a bit complacent heading into Sunday's home loss against the Gold Coast Titans.
The Raiders went into the match as favourites after impressive wins against the Dragons and Storm, but after scoring first after only three minutes were put to the sword by the resurgent Titans and slumped to a 38-26 defeat.
It was a result which many would not have expected but Furner said, having seen the team during the week, there were signs they were not on their game.
"I wouldn't say I didn't see it coming," Furner said.
"There's a little bit of a sniff there during the week.
"I thought our captain's run (final training run) was reasonable but I don’t know if that first try by us was a good thing because I think we thought it was just going to happen."
Furner said complacency was an unwanted pattern the side had developed.
"We had two good wins and we've had a little bit of a habit there of not starting well after those – so (we got) a little bit comfortable," he said.
Raiders captain David Shillington agreed.
"After their first try we dropped our bundle," Shillington said.
"We actually did that against the Cowboys as well, we scored a good early one and made an error and they scored a quick try we dropped our bundle, I don't know how to read into that but there's some sort of pattern there."
The Raiders chances of playing finals are fading following the loss, which put them two wins out of the eight.
But their coach wasn't willing to concede.
"I said to the players I still believe we can make it," Furner said.
