Judd case sent straight to tribunal
Carlton midfielder Chris Judd will face the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday evening after being charged with misconduct against North Melbourne's Leigh Adams.
With Adams – who has had a history of shoulder problems – on the ground after being tackled by Carlton's Andrew Carrazzo, Judd applied a controversial 'chicken wing' tackle in the second quarter of the Kangaroos' 53-point win at Etihad Stadium on Friday.
Judd's deliberate action aggravated Adams' shoulder and he was seen kicking the air in pain before his team-mates came to his rescue.
Adams was forced off the ground and did not return for some time after the incident.
Judd was always likely to have his case referred directly to the AFL Tribunal by the Match Review Panel and that was confirmed on Monday.
The two-time Brownlow Medallist is facing a significant spell on the sidelines for his action.
The MRP have hit North Melbourne's Jack Ziebell with a three-match ban for rough conduct on Carlton's Aaron Joseph, with the penalty impacted by his existing bad record.
Brisbane Lions midfielder Daniel Rich can accept a two-match ban for rough conduct on Clinton Jones while his team-mate, Daniel Merrett, can take a one-game suspension for charging St Kilda forward Nick Riewoldt.
Nick's cousin, Jack, was charged by Gold Coast's Danny Stanley, with the latter able to take a one-game sanction for his rough conduct.
Essendon defender Jake Carlisle can get away with a reprimand for his rough conduct on Port Adelaide's Daniel Stewart while North Melbourne defender Nathan Grima is faced with the same option after he was cited for striking Carlton's Nick Duigan.
Grima's team-mate, Sam Wright, can accept a reprimand for rough conduct towards Carlton's Mitch Robinson, while West Coast's Patrick McGinnity was also offered a reprimand if he pleads guilty to rough conduct on Sydney's Ryan O'Keefe.
Other incidents viewed but not assessed as reportable offences were Geelong midfielder Joel Corey's tackle on Collingwood's Jarryd Blair and Carlton defender Michael Jamison's collision with North Melbourne forward Drew Petrie.
Corey's tackle was adjudged as not having enough significant high contact to be reportable while the forced used by Jamison was ruled below what is required to constitute a report.
Other players cleared for incidents were Richmond's Trent Cotchin, Gold Coast's after-the-siren hero Karmichael Hunt and St Kilda's Riewoldt.
